Abstract:

The use of Visual information for voice Recognition is an important solution in the absence of audio information. This paper presents a method for speech Recognition using Visual information by describing spatial-temporal changes in the lobe of the lips. The gradient of the image was used for feature extraction. In the proposed method, after lobe area detection and extraction of key points, the gradient was extracted to describe the spatial information of the key points. To describe the key areas of the lip during speaking, the 3D histogram of gradients path curve fitting was used. The main focus of this research was to provide an adequate description of speech. For this purpose, different classifiers were tested and the best one was recognized. To evaluate the proposed method, the MIRACL-VC1 database was used and the results were compared with previous methods for speech Recognition which had an improvement about 11 to 17 percent.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Signage is everywhere, and a robot should be able to take advantage of signs to help it localize (including Visual Place Recognition (VPR)) and map. Robust text detection & Recognition in the wild is challenging due to pose, irregular text instances, illumination variations, viewpoint changes, and occlusion factors. Methods: This paper proposes an end-to-end scene text spotting model that simultaneously outputs the text string and bounding boxes. The proposed model leverages a pre-trained Vision Transformer based (ViT) architecture combined with a multi-task transformer-based text detector more suitable for the VPR task. Our central contribution is introducing an end-to-end scene text spotting framework to adequately capture the irregular and occluded text regions in different challenging Places. We first equip the ViT backbone using a masked autoencoder (MAE) to capture partially occluded characters to address the occlusion problem. Then, we use a multi-task prediction head for the proposed model to handle arbitrary shapes of text instances with polygon bounding boxes. Results: The evaluation of the proposed architecture's performance for VPR involved conducting several experiments on the challenging Self-Collected Text Place (SCTP) benchmark dataset. The well-known evaluation metric, Precision-Recall, was employed to measure the performance of the proposed pipeline. The final model achieved the following performances, Recall = 0.93 and Precision = 0.8, upon testing on this benchmark. Conclusion: The initial experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods in comparison to the SCTP dataset, which confirms the robustness of the proposed end-to-end scene text detection and Recognition model.

Abstract:

This paper presents a novel approach for human-machine interface using Visual-based communication. Scene analysis, object Recognition and tracking, together with gesture detection and classification, are employed to design and implement a system for real time interaction. A new paradigm is proposed for efficient selection of hand gestures that can be used in other gesture-based environments aiming at interactive multimedia. An inexpensive web camera and readily available tools (such as an ordinary pen) have been used in this approach to render the system cost effective and suitable for general and home-based multimedia applications. Focus is Placed on real time applications with a fast decision function for gesture classification, and a model-based approach for orientation detection. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed approach when tested using different performance criteria.

Abstract:

According-to-the results of immethodical and impromptu growth of different complexes in the urban spaces, doing scientific and research surveys in the various fields seems vital and logical– fields that are related with the planning issue, designing and establishment of tall-buildings. If we consider the history and evolution and transmutation route of these buildings from the ancient times till the contemporary era, the relationship between these typical elements and their lodgment bases in the urban spaces will be appeared with attention to the subjects that are taken into consideration by the socialists. Whilst the current paper explains this concept and introduces seven criteria and revises in short the history and different definitions which tall-buildings are grouped and introduced according-to them with the aim of Recognition of role and Place of tall-buildings in the establishment, supplying and reinforcement of social sustainability makes clear the Place of tall-buildings with regard to the social sustainability as well as compares the remnant of presence of tall-buildings in the environs and also following introducing their favored attitudes in the urban spaces from one hand and making and increasing the level of satisfaction sense among their stakeholders and citizens from the other hand had concluded the final results unto two scales. According-to the results of this paper in the macro-scale, these buildings play a symbolic role and thereby can increase the level of quality of urban spaces and will give identity to them and will help finding the address of their environs and finally will influence various characteristics of civil identity. In the middle and micro-scales, these buildings can develop the maximum limit of cooperation between themselves and their environs and have positive effect with relying on the criteria or attitudes as flexibility, inspiration from the nature and increasing the level of social interactions with the aim of making and increasing the level-of satisfaction sense among their stakeholders.

Abstract:

The importance of small urban parks (SUP) in mega cities has been accepted as an essential component of urban lung and restorative settings. As urban population in the world increases and the cost of maintaining large parks escalates, urban authorities are shifting their attention to creating and maintaining smaller urban parks. However, SUP may present a different ambience due to their location, size and Visual appearence. In this regard, Visual preference which is associated with spatial configuration and content of space, plays a vital role. This research examined 394 respondents’ Visual preferences related to 16 SUP located in the city of Tabriz, Iran. It employed a quantitative photo survey method, based on Kaplan and Kaplan's information-processing and Appleton’ s prospect-refuge theories as preselected variables by expert panels. Results indicated that mystery, as an indicator of having winding shapes of paths and expansive body of trees, was the most preferred spatial configuration of space, followed by coherence, refuge and complexity. Legibility and prospect as indicators of wide perspective and sky lines with clear focal points were the least preferred constructs. The results provide information on preferred Visual configurations for SUP that may assist urban designers and landscape architects to improve their design of these specific green areas for the public.
